Live @ 55 Opinion: September 11, 2006
Yesterday scared the living daylights out of me. I couldn't help but greet the news with shock. It's personal to me since I occasionally traverse the Cebu North Road and the witness we heard from was somebody I was at least acquainted with.
The LPG explosion from Gene's Laundry at Cebu North Road will be etched in my memory for a while. It triggered this deep sense of fear and paranaoia that I haven't felt in a long time. It's one thing to hear about Afghanistan getting blown up and quite another when a friend says he was nearly blown up. If David accelarated more than he had yesterday, he would've been part of that carnage of broken bodies and glass. Worse, what if I'd been there. What if I'd decided to take that road that morning? What if I'd woken up late? Too many questions... But I'm just glad I'm safe. My family's safe and those closest to me are too.
